Slide, The -
This basement lounge, a new addition Marion's in the East Village, is tonier than the typical East Village gay bar. A various assortment of people can be found from the after-dinner crowd to drunken bar hoppers. It is named for a notorious 1890s Bowery bar rife with rent boys and "fairy" servers. It's also got history from PA, The Slide aquired its furnishings--including the lovely wooden bar--from a bulldozed 1904 Allentown club called German Oak.
