Maple Leaf, The - If you aren’t having a good time at The Maple Leaf, well, blame Canada. This Covent Garden bar is for Canuck expats and the Nickelback fans that love them—anyone? Ice hockey and other sports—some vintage, some new—plays on multiple screens and it’s common to see die-hard supporters start a chorus of boos over a goal the Americans scored two decades ago. Moosehead and Sleeman Honey Brown help wash down dishes like chicken wings, meatloaf, sloppy joes, and waffles with maple syrup. The back of this roomy pub features a log cabin décor presided by a towering stuffed black bear. It wouldn’t be a Canadian bar without Bachman Turner Overdrive on the stereo and hockey jerseys galore, both on the clientele and on the walls. Oh, and don’t’ forget the moose head. Come in to watch the game, but beware that the Canuck pride can wear a bit thin if you were born in the Motherland.
