Los Dados - Now here's something you don't see on the cobble-stoned streets of the Meatpacking District everyday: a Mexican eatery (the District's first) minus the pretense—no bouncers to bribe or velvet ropes to hold you back. But don't let that mislead you: this corner cantina has street cred. Owners David Rabin and Will Regan, of Lotus and The Double Seven fame, paid special attention in crafting their list of "Mex-tails," such as the Pinche Bueno, a blackberry margarita with a shot of mezcal in a lime, and the Lagerita, created with Cazadores tequila and Dos Equis. Four types of margaritas, including house, Hibiscus Blueberry, Strawberry Guave and Cucumber Agave, can be served spicy by rimming the glass with chile de arbol salt, or for more mellow palates, the red wine sangria made with aromatics fit the bill. But if you want to enjoy them at the dimly lit, dark wood bar instead of being cast to a red leather cube-seat at its perimeter, get there early—though the floor-to-ceiling windows keep things open and airy, this small sliver of a space attracts an all too familiar scene in these parts: a crowd.
