Highline Ballroom - This new concert space in West Chelsea (oops, I guess we’re supposed to call this district the HighLine now) is a 700-person capacity venue that should fill a much maligned void in Manhattan’s live music scene. The club is owned by independent promoter Steven Bensusan and is going for an indie-heavy line-up, with early acts ranging from Mos Def to Amy Winehouse. The minimalist, industrial décor isn’t much to look at, but the club offers superior sound quality throughout the space. The medium size means you don’t have to get there hours early to catch a glimpse of your favorite band, but tickets will cost you a good deal more than you’ve been paying in Brooklyn.
