Studio B - You may see hipsters aplenty, but Studio B welcomes all kinds. Retro club kids, mature patrons and varied party people dance away uninhibited on the expansive box of a dance floor. Motherfucker’s Justine D. brings a hard-hitting array of DJs to orchestrate the serious sound system from an ample front booth. Live acts add big staging, but both shows draw a thick line despite B’s location at the sleepy edge of Greenpoint. Inside antsy clubbers meander through a platform perimeter of bars, scattered tables, chill seating and a not-so-secret lounge. The den-like room offers an aural break or VIP option. The overall effect feels somewhat like The Pawnshop and Miami’s downtown scene, perhaps a connection to sister Studio A. But up here donning heavy winter outerwear translates to waiting in the coat check line, which is known to snarl for 45 minutes, an hour or longer.
