Velvet Cigar Lounge - Who says you cannot smoke in New York City bars? Whether it’s fair or not, cigar bars are exempt from the city’s anti-smoking laws. Cigar connoisseurs would most definitely be pleased that places like the Velvet Cigar Lounge are allowed to remain open. The original Velvet Cigar Lounge in the East Village is now joined by a sister establishment in Williamsburg. The cigars are hand rolled on premises and divided into mild, medium, and full bodied selections. Prices for single cigars range from a $4 Corona to a $15 Especial. Six packs and boxes of 25 are also sold. A fine selection of Belgian beer is on tap and they have a wine list, but there is no liquor. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it’s an ideal place for guys to unwind after work. Bachelor parties and other events are also welcomed.
