Mainland - Mainland successfully mixes Chinese fare for lounge lizards slithering about sleek décor on the Upper East side. Traditional black and red ornamentation highlights the bar and eating areas; in fact, it’s almost too sumptuous for Third Avenue. During the warmer months, the open wood burning oven sure generates heat (and not the sexy kind) for bar goers. But, this inconvenience produces fabulous duck dishes. Far from a transporting experience, this spot is definitely not a pick up scene. However, patrons enjoy high end sake, martinis, and better than average Asian food that comes with a bit of a price tag.
