NYC's Biggest New Year's Party: Avicci NYE

To refer to the Swedish-born Avicii as “kind of a big deal,” would be like calling the Grand Canyon a small sinkhole. At only 22-years-old, most DJs would be happy to mention the fact that they were able to spin at their local nightspot on a Sunday. Avicii (aka Tim Berg) has a different story altogether.  In only a few years, he’s blasted through the stratosphere of EDM and landed effortlessly as one of the Top 10 most sought after electronic music acts in the world.  Frankly, he's kind of a big deal.

So when it comes across your desk that Avicii has decided that it would, in fact, be a good idea to host the biggest and most incredible EDM party, on the most important exciting day of the year, in the capital of the world, you tend to get a little excited. Well, friends, it's true. Avicii is playing the biggest party in New York City on New Year's Eve this year.

Originally, tickets for “Avicii NYE” sold out in minutes, as audiophiles desperate to quench their thirst for an event bigger than anything in Ibiza, came to the Big Apple. Servers crashed, people panicked and  so many were left with that nearly world shattering feeling in the pit of their stomachs - deeply sighing and resigning to the fact that they may end up in Times Square with one of those stupid hats on standing next to someone that smells a bit like corned beef. But, through special consideration by the authorities, and adjustments in the production of the event, there have been a limited number of additional tickets released for the event at Pier 94….sadly, they've sold out once again earlier this month.

The night promises to be the most anticipated event for NYE in New York - boasting a line up of some of the most talented DJs in the world, spinning into the dawn of 2012, ringing in the New Year by mixing the most legendary elements of EDM festivals such as Ultra, with the most wonderful time of the year.

Supporting Avicii are such legendary acts as Cazzette, Glen Morrison, Swanky Tunes, and Arty, with the man himself taking the stage just after the ball drops.

Avicii NYE will without a doubt provide catharsis for audiophiles who have been dreaming of more than a white Christmas. This year, all of Times Square will feel the bass drop from Pier 94, and the  months of waiting for WMC to arrive, wont seem so far away.
