Before Summer Ends Try The Palms

Tucked away amidst the streets of Long Island City is a summer oasis like no other. Running through Labor Day, The Palms, a weekend only pool party, occupies a former bank building and its parking lot. With its laid back atmosphere and strange concept, it’s no wonder why people have been flocking there this August to beat the summer heat. Creators of The Palms have turned an old bank into a summer experience complete with bubbles and rubber duckies.

Lawn chairs, striped changing tents, and pools line the area creating an urban summer bash which rivals any other pool party you’ve been to, with the added bonus of you being able to say you swam in a dumpster. These “dumpster” pools are perfect in the sense that they provide an escape from the heat while being so quirky that you can’t help but love them. Don’t worry, they are filtered! Feel free to hop from deck to deck, and from pool to pool meeting strangers as you all take in the final rays of the summer.

The fun doesn’t stop in the parking lot. As you enter the indoor area you’ll find all the trimmings of a retro pool party. The super soakers, bubbles, rubber duckies, and floaties are all available to purchase and use. Whether you feel like grabbing a drink or a bite to eat, it’s all there. You can even feel free to browse the designer t-shirts and sunglasses, perfectly placed atop safety deposit boxes. Well, where else would you put a clothing shop other than in the remnants of a bank vault? It can’t hurt to check if one of those safety deposit boxes still has some cash in it.

As summer comes to a close it's time to squeeze out every last drop of fun. With so many weekend options, it’s good to look for a place that's totally unique. So, when you and your friends are looking for a place to party this weekend, why not check out this place?
