Event Preview: Club Space Turns 10!

It’s no secret in Miami nightlife that the average lifespan of a nightclub doesn’t run too far past a year. One month a club is open, then next is could definitely be closed, or the name changes, or something else changes. That’s just how it is in Miami. However, there’s one nightclub in Miami that has reached legendary status, Club Space. When Louis Puig decided to open up shop back in 2000, little did he know that he’d be changing the nightlife game in Miami, and truly making downtown Miami what it is today. This Saturday night Club Space turns a decade old, and they’re hosting what’s considered to be the party of the year!

“There area lot of things that have contributed to our success,” says Vice Ventures partner Emi Guerra, who also operates Club Space and Surfcomber Pool Parties. “Timing, marketing, DJ bookings, staff, promotion, location, design, The Terrace, the experience, have all contributed to our success. Back in 2000 when Space opened, it was the first mega-club to offer four rooms of music, an outdoor terrace and afterhours with liquor. We were also the first major nightlife venue to open in downtown Miami. The neighborhood was a mess, and the risks were big. But now look at it. Space played a major roll in reviving downtown. Also, when you’re the first one doing something, and you do it well, it’s hard for others to catch up. But none of the above would matter if it weren't for the support from our loyal costumers, fans, residents and guest DJs. We have an insanely loyal fan base. No other club in Miami has that.”

Club Space has played hosts to names like Paul van Dyk, Tïesto, Sasha and Digweed, Danny Howells, Roger Sanchez, Sander Kleinenberg, Steve Lawler and Erick Morillo, but it’s the residents that really have the tough job and deserve a big part of the credit. That’s why this Saturday night they’re bringing in Space resident legends to bring back old memories for Space fanatics all over the city. Set to play on the legendary Terrace are Oscar G., Cedric Gervais, Patrick M., Ivano Bellini, Roland, Louis Puig and Lazardi, while Maurizio and Danyelino, Dsan Powell and guest Martin Buttrich take careof the Techno Loft.

“Some may say we are rather nostalgic for doing so, but we put together a great team of our past and present residents and some special guests,” Guerra says of Saturday’s event. “We're going to take a look back, while, of course showing off some new stuff.”

This party is definitely going to be sold-out… without a doubt. If you’re thinking of going make sure to buy tickets now because there’s no guarantee that they’ll be around for a long time. Space has made an insane amount of memories for locals and visitors, and this is the only time they turn a decade old, so it is a party that only comes around once in a lifetime. It’s fair to say that we should pay our respects to a legendary venue that’s had an immense impact on what nightlife in Miami is today.
