Actor/Rapper/Producer/Designer/Mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs was finally ordered to pay up for past child support to the mother of his 11-year-old son.
Misa Hylton-Brim has pursued Puffy for years in search of higher support payments, complaining that she only got $5,000 a month, while the mother of Combs’ other child received much more.
The New York Supreme Court's Appellate Division, handed down a decision on Thursday, slightly cutting the monthly award granted by a Westchester Family Court back in 2004. That court imposed a $35,000 per month payment, but the Appeals Court knocked that down to a mere $21,782. According to published reports, Combs plans to appeal this ruling as well.
The multi-media millionaire and producer of currently hot MTV show Making the Band 3 was also ordered to fork over an undisclosed amount in back support. Kim Porter, the ex-model and mother to Comb’s other child, reportedly receives $30,000 a month in child support payments.
The original $35,000 ruling for Hylton-Brim was based in part on how much Combs paid to Porter – a inappropriate yardstick, according to the Appeals Court, which wrote, "The Support Magistrate erred in basing the award in part on the amount of child support the father paid for his other child by another woman."
Despite the mixed ruling, Hylyon-Brim’s lawyer, Brett Kimmel told the New York Post, “This award provides for the child's expenses, and that's all she ever wanted.”
