The party I anticipated the most at this year's Winter Music Conference was The Hard Pool Party. The line up consisted of some of the top Electro DJ/ Producers at the moment and my personal favorite genre of music. As I approached the door, I could hear Fake Blood on and he was playing my favorite song of his which is “I Think I Like It”. It was the perfect entrance to what would be a killer party. I had been next door at Eden Rock for Steve Angello's Size Matter's Pool Party prior. Though that party was 3 times the size and lots of fun, the energy at the Hard Pool Party was unbelievable.
The crowd was a mix of indie hipster electro kids. And when you looked over the party, it was a sea of Ray Band sunglasses and neon colors. After Fake Blood's set, Busy P came on. For those of you not familiar with him, he is the man behind Ed Banger Records and he discovered Daft Punk. He opened up with a hip hop song. Normally, at an electronic music party, that would not go over well but he played it just right and killed it. After his set, Erol Alkan came on and then Boys Noize and destroyed it. During Boys Noize set, my girl and I were dancing on stage in front (I expect to find myself on youtube following the conference shaking it).
As the sun was setting, Aeroplane came on. These two guys are murdering the music scene at the moment. They played their remix of Friendly Fires' “Paris” featuring Au Revoir Simone which also is another of the songs I have on repeat and love. Annie Mac came on after them and was playing a great set but by this time my body was exhausted and my feet were throbbing from all of the crazy dancing I had been doing and I knew it was time to go. Though this may sound a bit cliché, one sentence to describe the Hard Pool Party would be “GO HARD OR GO HOME”.
