In Los Angeles where bigger is better, Capitol City brings the big Hollywood production to the sports bar.
Hollywood is known for many things; powerful men, testosterone driven business ventures, big budgets and beautiful women, not all of which you would expect to find at a sports bar. Successfully bringing them all together: Capitol City.
Capitol City is a “neighborhood sports bar on steroids,” said owner Curtis Nysmith, an understatement when standing in the 7,000 square foot space located on Cahuenga and Hollywood Blvd in the heart of Hollywood. Towering above the main room is a 14-foot-by-8-foot high definition jumbo-screen TV, one of 45 TVs broadcasting throughout the bar area, upstairs dining lounge and outside patio outfitted with two bungalows and, of course, more plasmas. Steroid injected indeed.
Created with sleek New York City lounges in mind, Nysmith brought in Tag Front, the design team behind Los Angeles hits Katana and BOA to design a bar that was vigorously focused on sports and still inviting for women, beautiful women. You can sit at the bar and try one of 30 types of draft beer and 30 types of bottled beer or get what you really want on a Sunday morning, a Rum Jungle with coconut rum, fresh orange and pineapple juice, a splash of guava and a heavy hand of dark rum. The perfect energy inducing cocktail.
More elegant restaurant lounge than American sports bar, Capitol Hill serves Hollywood’s version of fan fare (Mac n’ Cheese, house smoked bacon, mushrooms, scallions in three cheese sauce; house smoked pork ribs) to sophisticated and hearty meals (grilled New York steak; build your own burgers; grilled cheese and tomato soup) and even breakfast is covered for those early morning games.
Remember that big Hollywood budget we mentioned? Nysmith renovated the Goa space with three million dollars of sports minded sophistication. Want to eat but can’t see the game from your seat? Each table is installed with wireless speakers giving you the freedom to listen to your team while looking at your girlfriend, or follow all of your favorite teams at the same time.
