Best Dive Bars in Miami

We all get a little sick and tired of all the club talk in Miami. That's why sometimes, whether it be during the week or even on a Friday or Saturday night, we opt for a place that doesn't have any attitude at the door, dress code, and the bartender doesn't expect  you to tip them $2 when all they did was crack open a beer for you. Yes, we're talking about dive bars people. Now, just because it's a dive, doesn't mean that it's not fun or not popular. Here in Miami dive bars are just as popular as the clubs in downtown or South Beach. Here's our little list of the best dive bars in Miami that we think you should pay a visit to.

Tobacco Road
626 S. Miami Avenue
Miami, FL 33130

Walk up to any local in Miami and ask them where Tobacco Road is, and chances are that they’ll know. Now, we know what you’re thinking, “That’s not a hole in the wall bar.” Just go once and you’ll definitely agree with us that it is. Just because it’s a little bigger than your ordinary bar doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have that local haunt feeling. Tobacco Road is Miami’s oldest bar, and you definitely get the feeling once you walk through their doors. It’s local, it’s fun, the drink selection is great, and you won’t have insane decibels ripping through your earlobe from a sound system. On another note, the kitchen here is open pretty damn late, and after a few drinks you’ll definitely appreciate that.

Churchill’s Pub
5501 NE 2nd Avenue
Miami, FL 33137

If you’re looking for a real pub with some of the best local talent that takes the stage on a daily basis, than look no further than Churchill’s Pub, the quintessential rock and roll bar in the city. Little known fact, Marilyn Manson actually had his start here, so you know that there’s something special in the air once you walk in. The bartenders here are the best in town, the beer selection is great, and every now and then you’ll catch a local act that will blow you away. It’s located in the heart of Little Haiti, away from all the glitz and glam associated with South Beach and downtown Miami. On weekends come in early for a beer and watch some great European football matches, that’s when we like it best.

Abbey Brewing Co.
1115 16th Street
Miami Beach, FL 33139

Who would of known that one of the best hole in the wall bars in all of Miami would be in the heart of South Beach. That’s right boys and girls, The Abbey is without a doubt a true spectacle of a bar. It’s small, it’s quaint and it offers up some of the best beer you can find in all of the city. It’s home to some very fine award winning hand crafted beers, and just come up to the bar and ask the bartender what he recommends, and he’ll definitely make sure you get a taste of the best. If you happen to work in South Beach, this is definitely one of the best places to grab a cold one right after work. On weekends, if things don’t go good for you at the door of the club, just head over to 16th and you won’t have that problem at the Abbey.

Club Deuce Bar and Grill
222 14th Street
Miami Beach, FL 33139

Here’s the top one on our list. Club Deuce is the quintessential hole in the wall bar. It’s old, it’s grimy and you definitely meet a hell of a cast of characters there. Located right off of the infamous Washington Avenue in South Beach (right around the corner from Mansion Nightclub) Club Deuce is the bar of bars. The beer’s cheap, the selection is limited, and the jukebox is something to marvel at. It’s open later than any other establishment, so you can bet that all of the serious drinkers end up here when they want a cold one after a night out on SoBe. Little known fact, during Winter Music Conference some of the biggest world renown DJs like to end up here after their gigs.

The Bar
172 Giralda Avenue
Miami, FL 33134

We had to pick one in the Gables, and it had to be this one. Located right near Miracle Mile, most people wouldn’t expect there to be a hole in the wall bar in an area that’s as sleek and homey as Miracle Mile, but there definitely is. The Bar probably has the most fitting name of all in our list, and if you happen to blink when you pass it, you just might miss it entirely. There’s a heavy local crowd at The Bar, and their happy hour is one of the best in the area. When you live in the Gables sometimes it’s tough to make the drive to downtown or SoBe, when you just want to be close to home, so many just opt for The Bar.

Zeke’s Roadhouse
625 Lincoln Road
Miami Beach, FL 33139

When it comes to beer selection, this place tops all the others in the city. Carrying over 120 different bottled beers, Zeke’s Roadhouse was once the top hole in the wall bar in the city, but because of their infamous prices (only $4 for a beer, regardless of which you choose) it’s been quite busy as of late. Located on the tourist friendly Lincoln Road in South Beach, Zeke’s has any kind of beer for any kind of consumer. Whether it’s fruity, frothy, thick or dark, chances are that Zeke’s will have various of each. There’s no such thing at as a happy hour here because the prices are static day in and day out. Just be note that on Mondays and Tuesdays they’re closed. We know it’s weird, but everyone’s gotta have their own break.

Black Sheep Bar
721 Lincoln Lane
Miami Beach, FL 33139

Formerly known as Laundry Bar, Black Sheep Bar is a new and improved version. Although on some nights things get a little loud and crazy with their drum and bass parties, most of the time you can stop by here and grab a drink without having to bump and pass through a sea of people. Located near Lincoln Road, Black Sheep also has some pretty serious hip hop parties, but if it’s a quiet drink that you’re looking for, we suggest checking this place out during the day. Since Lincoln is around the corner, it’ll get pretty busy when the sun sets.
