When news first came out that Jay-Z started a new label, Roc Nation, hip hop fans all around the globe were thrilled. The Jigga-Man’s taste in music will definitely ensure us all that his label will have some pretty dope artists, but it will undoubtedly feature some of his own music. Recently, he finalized a deal with Sony that would have them take care of all of their distribution.
Although his next album that’s due out soon, The Blueprint 3, will be distributed by Atlantic Records, that will be the last in his installment of that particular series of albums. “You have to figure, this is like four years ago, and to them it was just like, ‘Are you crazy? No! Make a song,’” he said about him buying out his Def Jam contract at an estimated $5 million. “To me it was like, I’ve sold companies for huge amounts of money. I’m an entrepreneur – that’s what I’ve been all my life.”
