The week preceding the Super Bowl last night was full of parties, events and debauchery. Here were some of our favorite stories of the week:
The Obama Craze: The Obama craze has seeped into all aspects of our life including music, art, and now nightlife. And, while not a museum, 1 Oak’s latest eye-catching mural of our 44th President and its placement over their quintessential bull photo, shows this hip “Obama” trend has really struck a chord with the youth. Can you think of any other modern day president that would have gotten a mural in a nightclub?
Battle of the DJs: DJ Nick Cohen may be a well known crowd favorite, but DJ Mess Kid is putting the pressure on. With main stays like Southside, 1Oak, Beatrice Inn, and Submercer under his belt, and a list of followers including Alexandra Richards, Jules Kirby, and Kashmir Snowdon-Jones, we think we have a battle of the DJs on our hands. Who’s hotter? That’s for you to decide.
Bar Martignetti’s Closing: Our neighborhood joint, Martignetti’s, the place which started Bella', then Southside has CLOSED! We barely noticed; as the place has been virtually empty the past couple of months. It’s only for a couple weeks, they are renovating for a new reinvention. Again. With a more pub-like feel and menu to follow, we will wait and see if the place can survive another round of change.
Still hung-over from our Super Bowl party at the Plaza, check in all week for more parties, and more of our nightlife coverage.
