While we all may not be ready to admit it, Labor Day weekend marked the official end of summer...at least in Club Land. The honchos out East are heading home, and their island was ready to welcome them back with open arms. The fashion week insanity meant that every hotspot in NYC was packed to the brim each night with parties to appease the A, B, C, and D-listers. The Box, Pink Elephant, the newly opened Country Club, and Bijoux were especially busy, oh, and of course, The Eldridge. Here is a short recap of the week that was:
The Exodus out of the Hamptons and back to the city meant a much-needed trip to Chelsea to show the original Pink some much needed love from the locals after we had abandoned it for the summer months. And what better way to start off the fall season than a 100 bottles of Cristal? Yes, that’s correct: Billionaire Mike Ashley dropped a cool $216K at Pink on Wednesday night, leaving the entire dance floor drenched with champagne and his waitress with an enormous $30,000 tip.
The Observer's George Gurley may be banned from the Beatrice Inn after a little item he posted on his beloved hotspot. The verdict is not yet out on whether Paul Sevigny will really keep George at bay. But wouldn’t it be a shame if the guy who has made “Bea” his second home isn’t allowed back in? Doesn't he deserve at least a second chance?
We finally made it to the newly opened, and highly blogged-about Eldridge Lounge on the Lower East Side...(you know, the one where you need a card to get into). Lydia Hearst played hosts to one of the very first parties ever thrown there.
And with the Eldridge’s push to become Manhattan’s “most exclusive” joint with keycards, somebody with too much time on their hands decided to poke a little bit of fun by creating some fake competitors. Bathroom keys were given out to "El Bano" and, now "El-Elevator." We aren't sure who's exactly behind these shenanigans, but we have a feeling DBTH has a hand in it. More to report when we get to the bottom of it.
And last but not least, guestofaguest was honored to be chosen among the presenters and panelists at the 2nd annual L magazine nightlife awards.
