Make It Right NOLA Recap

Remember back when MTV was a musical force?  Used to play videos?  Showed edgy fare like Daria and Aeon Flux?  Yeah, good times, good times. MTV is now synonymous with The Hills and The Real World 43: Back to Rehab! so it was only fitting that they'd host a swagfest before their 2008 Movie Awards at the welcome center for the new W Hollywood, which opens in 2009.  The entire shindig, however, was in support of a good cause, benefitting Brad Pitt's Make it Right NOLA charity, which supports the rebuilding of New Orleans by restoring damaged houses in an eco-friendly manner.  In addition to the mountains of free stuff ready to be snapped up, Make It Right NOLA raffled off a green bike that most of the celebrities in attendance autographed.  This writer was hoping Brad Pitt and the Missus might make an appearance: no dice.  Instead, I was treated to sightings of Whitney Port, Tila Tequila, Joel Madden, Kathy Hilton and Ian Ziering, as well as '90s heartthrob Andrew Keegan and Hercules himself Kevin Sorbo.  The swag flowed like wine from companies such as K Swiss, Tag Jeans, Biatta Lingerie, Logitech, Samsung and Julianna Jabour, and the lounge ended up raising $6000 for the charity--not too shabby, but not enough!  To get involved and donate to the Make It Right NOLA house being sponsored by Platinum Publicity, visit www.makeitrightnola.org.  Brad will thank you.  (Okay, maybe not in person, 'cause he's busy jetting around the globe and being smoking hot and creating a rainbow soccer team, but you know, in spirit.)

More Seen and Heard:

Kathy Hilton picking up Logitech ipod speakers and Tag jeans for Paris.  Then she picked up Great China Wall for her daughter Nikki, which retails for $1,200 each.

Joel Madden leaving an intimate photo booth (by Fotocabina) with Platinum Publicity owner Melanie Segal

Paris Hilton’s Chihuahua Tinkerbell was being escorted/carried around the lounge and was pampered with Natural Balance pet products

Joel Madden heading straight for Domino’s Pizza and eating it the whole way through the lounge (photos).  Then picking up Natural Balance pet products for he and Nicole Richie’s 3 dogs.  He wouldn’t pick up any women’s fashions for Nicole because he didn’t trust his taste for her.

Paul Oakenfold, making a rare appearance, visited Melanie Segal’s Gift Lounge and was excited to listen to his own tunes on the Samsung Pebble MP3 player that he picked up.  The Samsung Pebble won’t be out until July.

Whitney Port and Linda Thompson (Brody Jenner’s mom) running into each other and chatting Linda asking Whitney why she wasn’t in Vegas with the rest of the cast filming the Hills…trouble for Whitney on the show?

Joel Madden (and all guests) signing a “Green Bike” to be auctioned off for Brad Pitt’s Make it Right NOLA.

Traci Bingham hitting on Joel Madden by constantly telling him “You’re really hot, you’re a really good looking man”, then interviewing him on camera.

Kelis and Lil Romeo meeting for the first time, posing for photos and then picking up Cor soap, which actually contains silver and retails for over $100 a bar.

Whitney Port picking up dresses and tanks from designer Julianna Jabour

Lil Romeo being mobbed at the Fotocabina digital photo booth with ladies wanting to take pictures with him.  He was being escorted around by a 500lb body guard and was wearing millions of dollars worth of jewelry.

Tila Tequila picking up her favorite Biatta Intimate Apparel bras and panties to wear for her soon-to-be-announced winner of her heart on her TV show.  She was tight-lipped about whether she’d be wearing the lingerie for a guy or girl this time around.

American Gladiator Titan and Mayhem learning about health drink Vemma, packed with antioxidants from Mangosteen berries, and then trying Verve, the healthy alternative to Red Bull.

90210: the Next Generation star AnnaLynne McCord running into original 90210 veteran Ian Ziering.

Katherine Heigl’s 27 Dresses co-star Kristin Riiter tried on 27 pairs of Tag jeans (more like 10 pairs) until she decided on the first pair she tried on!
