SUNDAY FUNDAY: Steven Redant & Peyton - Let It Shine - [SWISHCRAFT]
“Let it Shine” is quite a special song - so much so - that it is a challenge to write about it for Sunday Funday without getting too deep. On first listen, the song sounds and feels very familiar. The horn lines, tribal drums, and chants sound like they could be sampled from club classics, yet the way they are weaved together give it an altogether fresh and modern 2017 feel. The drop down to vocals, a trick borrowed from the trance and EDM world, is deployed perfectly to highlight the lyrics built around a classic spiritual. Not that we are going to Church on Sunday, but the uplifting message is something we all need about now. Peyton is one the best male singers of the 21st century, and songs like this showcase his raw and soulful voice which brings forward true emotion. Blending his vocals perfectly with Steven Redant’s on point production makes “Let It Shine” a brilliant choice for SundayFunday.
