Music for the Masses: Miami Music Edition
by DJ Ron Slomowicz
Special Miami edition - the best new music we heard on South Beach during Miami Music Week and Winter Music Conference.
DJ Licious ft Yolanda Quartey – I Hear You Calling – [SHOMI/POSITIVA]
The uplifting instrumental track “Calling” launched Belgian producer DJ Licious onto the top of every buzzlist (and DJ playlist) last summer. With new vocals from British singer Yolanda Quartey, you will hear this everywhere. If you’re going to be skimming through his insta, this is your track. And as if that’s not enough, an ultratrendy Zonderling remix of the original track is making waves in clubland as well. Hmm... How about a Zonderling remix of the vocal version?
Lost Frequencies ft Axel Ehnstrom – All or Nothing – [ARMADA/ULTRA]
Another Belgian making his mark on the week was hitmaker Lost Frequencies. Not only was he everywhere around town, in quite colorful and pretty shirts, his current single “All or Nothing” was as well. The fresh set of remixes by Bolier, Angemi, Who Knows, and Seizo made the deep and pretty house track fit every set.
Audien ft Max – One More Weekend – [ASTRALWERKS]
Premiered at his epic DJ set at The One hotel, Audien’s midtempo trop jam brings some disco beats into the mix to freshen up the sound that is dominating dance radio. Vocalist Max delivers a catchy chorus that will have you singing along on the first listen. An easy pick for your summer jam of choice, “One More Weekend” is a universal story that we can all relate to.
Watermat ft Kelli Leigh – Won’t Stop – [SPINNIN DEEP]
We kept hearing what we thought could be a new vocal version of Watermat’s “Bullit” at the different pool parties. Finally we got through security and made it to the DJ and asked what it was. This is a brand new track with a few signature Watermat sounds and gorgeous vocals from Kelli Leigh that you WONT STOP listening to.
Gotsome ft Lisa Kekaula – I Don’t Know – [MINISTRY OF SOUND]
The “Bassline” kings enlisted the talents of Basement Jaxx vocalist Lisa Kekaula for one of the freshest house jams of the season. To give you an idea of how popular it was, we heard it as many times as we heard “Shape of You.”
Bingo Players – No 1 Disco – [HYSTERIA]
Forget what you’ve heard in all the online bootlegs and set rips. Originally made back in 2006 but never released, this fierce track has been reworked into what will be one of festival season’s biggest smashes.
