SUNDAY FUNDAY: Zac Samuel & Moon Willis ft Taya - Never Letting Go
Now this is how you update a '90s house classic. Tina Moore’s R&B song “Never Let You Go” became a club smash thanks to garage and house mixes by Artful Dodger and Kelly G. Retitled “Never Letting Go,” British producer Zac Samuel enlists the talent of Moon Willis and vocalist Taya for quite a wonderful rework. New verses are added to modernize the perspective of the song (similar to the Cheat Codes x Kris Kross Amsterdam version of “Sex”) and the chorus is sung in THAT effected male vocal which has become a future house staple. Although it is as 108 bpm, the production has more energy than most trop-pop and thankfully, the gated vocal effect (as well as other elements) from the original is deployed effectively.
