SUNDAY FUNDAY: Kristine W - Out There - [FLY AGAIN]
Just in time for Pride comes “Out There,” a frolicking new club confection from iconic diva Kristine W. On first listen, Kristine is singing about someone special she desires but who seems to be out of reach. In reflection of the past month, the lyrics make a clever double entendre for those seeking happiness and safety in a place that is out there (or possibly out of a closet). Her vocals are spot on, as to be expected, yet her vocal delivery is a bit different with the way syllables are enunciated - giving it a modern, youthful flow. There’s also a clear reference to the chorus of Alexandra Burke’s “Silence” as if this is a response record giving her point of view. For clubland, the remixes run the gamut from classic disco house (Moto Blanco) to experimental bigbeat (Loop Soop). Of particular interest are two remixes that pay homage to her past work. The DJ Kespa mix is quite similar to Subgroover’s mix of her previous single “Love Come Home.” Kudos go to Giuseppe D for being on point with the '90s by incorporating programming elements from “One More Try” and “Feel What You Want” in his dancefloor-friendly mix. Let’s all go “out there” for Sunday Funday.
