Episode 47 of ClubPlanet Radio is here to kick off the last month of 2014. Today I am joined by up & coming producers straight out of NYC, the Digital Junkiez! These guys have put together a solid year and stop by with a 30 minute guest mix filled with the grooves and energy that their productions always provide. Before we get to the mix, here are some of the highlights:
Wolfgang Gartner ft Bobby Saint - Unholy (Amtrac Remix) [KINDERGARTEN]
Wolfgang's latest offering gets the remix treatment from Amtrac and I'm really digging the result. After recently taking Alesso's "Heroes" in a deeper direction, Amtrac does the same for Wolfgang with an infectious bass line that carries the track and establishes a solid groove. From top to bottom a great remix and perfect idea for how to transform a tune.
Stefano Pain & Manual Costa - La Revolution [SOSUMI]
Kryder's "Sosumi" label is at it again, proving quality house music that brings the groove back to the mainstage, and providing it for FREE. This month he bring Stefano Pain (from Italy, who you may remember from Ram Tam Tam) and Manuel Costa who revive an old sample screaming "Viva La Revolution". The result is a big room groove filled slammer filled with a horn breakdown worth of a king's entrance.
Eva Shaw - Space Jungle (Showtek Edit) [SKINK]
Eva Shaw returns with her massive tune "Space Jungle" which is given a boost by an edit from Showtek on it's release on their label SKINK. You can hear the track in the mix so rather than describe it, I would rather mention here how horrible some of the comments regarding this track are that I have seen on social media. Everything from accusations that Eva did not produce it (simply because she is a woman) or even worse, even though Eva truly knows her way around Logic and production. Simply my opinion, but comments such as those should be directed at the female 'DJs' who truly are faking the funk and using ghost producers and premixed sets and not the ones who really do have the skills like Eva does.
CPR TUNE OF THE WEEK
Sander Kleinenberg ft Gwen McCrae - Can You Feel It [SPINNIN]
Sander is a veteran of the dance music scene and I will never forget his legendary sets on the Space Terrance in Miami into the hours of the morning (and afternoon!). When I heard he had a track coming out on mighty Spinnin' I was definitely taken back, but the result was for sure mind-blowing. "Can You Feel It" is housey, funky and futuristic all at the same time. Sander K somehow combines classic house music qualities with the future house sound and makes it all work.
Axwell^Ingrosso - Something New [DEF JAM]
As a massive fan of the Swedes, the latest release from Ax & Seb has left me confused to say the least. "Something New" is definitely the most radio-friendly record they've produced and I see nothing wrong with that (especially having heard the other material slated for the album and understanding they still have club and underground tracks to come). However. the initial lines of the song ("I see the dawn of a new beginning, this time we can't go home") were originally part of the song they teased around NYC at the end of the summer, which also featured Pusha T on the break. Is it possible they also use those lyrics in a different song? Of course. Overall the song features catchy vocals and a sound that the mainstream will eat up for sure.
Digital Junkiez Guest Mix
NYC seems to have more up & coming producers than any city (I could be biased as I live here) but even the term "up & coming" is bothersome. However today's guests, the Digital Junkiez, should be no stranger to anyone who listens to this mixshow as I typically feature anything they produce. Their guest mix showcases the energy and groove that many of their productions do, and they have a HUGE 2015 ahead of them, so check out the mix and follow them on their socials to not miss out on their updates as to what is upcoming!
Thanks to everyone for listening. If you enjoy what you hear, follow us on Soundcloud so you can be the first every Friday to hear the latest CPR episode. Hit the REPOST button and share the mix with all your friends. We love getting feedback so either comment on the Soundcloud player OR you can tweet us (@clubplanet or @mikebugout) and let us know if you’re digging the show, and who you would like to see featured on an upcoming show! Party Safe, until next week…..
