DJ Kamau Preston may not be a name you recognize but rest assured it’s one you’re going to hear again. The Jamaican native and now New York resident is making more than a splash in his home of New York and can be found playing VIP and celebrity filled parties in clubs and lounges all over the city.
Having been involved in the music industry since his youth, Kamau found his passion in DJing at an early age and worked the local DJ circuit around the Caribbean, most notably as the resident DJ at Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas. In 2004,he moved to New York and graduated to becoming the personal DJ for celebrities such as Howard Stern, New York Giants owner Jonathan M. Tisch and fashion designer Steve Madden. It wasn’t until 2007 that he made the step into the big time when he played at the opening of Newark's state-of-the-art Prudential Center Sports and Entertainment Venue for Bon Jovi, still to this day a highlight of his career.
When he’s not behind the decks, Kamau can be found running his multinational music production company, CK Preston LLC, where he is continuously developing sets and tracks using his own vibe while using a mixing technique he has developed throughout his career.
With more than ten years of professional experience performing in nightclubs, lounges, bars, private and corporate parties as well as major international events, Kamau’s eclectic mix of Motown, 70's Funk, 80's, 90's R&B, Rock, Hip Hop, House, Reggae and Dubstep is making him one of New York’s most exciting DJs.
