Afrojack Signs Exclusive Deal with Island Records and Universal Music Group

With song releases that have mainstream appeal yet still grasp the electronic music scene, Afrojack has exploded over the past few years. Mercilessly invading our radios and nightclubs with his bleepy Dutch house music, Nick van de Wall always seems to be popping up in headlines. Whether it be for new music releases, energetic festival sets, a breakup from Paris Hilton or even a Ferrari crash incident; it seems as if it's Afrojack's world and we're just living in it.

Currently one of the most popular DJs in the world, Afrojack has just been signed to an exclusive worldwide deal with
Island Records and Universal Music Group (UMG), through Afrojack's label Wall Recordings. As his new single with Chris Brown entitled "As Your Friend" is climbing up the music charts, this couldn't of come at a better time. Island Records, a division of Def Jam Music Group (IDJ), will step in under the new contract to handle all of the radio promotions and sales for the new single within the United States. The single, released on Wall Recordings as already been receiving airplay throughout radio and electronic dance music scenes across the world.

In regards to the deal, Afrojack said: "I want to take my music to the next level, both creatively and from a business point of view. Partnering up with Island Records will give me the chance to do both, so I am very happy we were able to make a deal."

Solidifying to fans and industry folk alike that this deal is another leap forward for the superstar DJ, Afrojack's manager
Hugo Langras spoke out saying, "This deal is an ideal combination of Wall Recordings' strength as an independent with the worldwide marketing and distribution infrastructure that Island/UMG can provide us with. We are very happy with this agreement, as it will allow us to take Afrojack's career as a recording artist to the next level, while safeguarding his independence and stature in the EDM world."

On the other side of things, representatives from Island Records and Universal Music Group also spoke out about the deal to
PR Newswire. "Afrojack is one of the most important and prolific artists, DJs and producers in the world and we're incredibly excited that he's chosen to partner with us for the next stage in his career," said Andrew Kronfeld, President Global Marketing.

President of Island Records,
David Massey continues on to say, "Afrojack has won global acclaim for his production genius, and Barry Weiss , Steve Bartels , Karen Kwak and I did everything in our power to ensure that he join us at Island Records in the US. His stellar track record speaks for itself and we're thrilled to join forces with an artist who continues to transform the musical landscape."

Having worked with the best names in the industry already, Afrojack's first Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording came back in 2010 when he collaborated on a remix with
David Guetta for Madonna's 'Revolver (One Love Club Mix)'. The following year in 2011, Afrojack shared two Grammy Award nominations (for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song) as co-writer and co-producer of Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now". Since then he has been ready to 'Take Over Control' all over our radios. With another collaboration with Chris Brown on "As Your Friend" and his debut album in the works for this upcoming fall season, it doesn't look like Afrojack is going anywhere anytime soon.
