Full biographies on Bad Boy Bill and Tall Paul are below...
Sandra Collins -- From a humble start spinning hard industrial techno in the Phoenix Arizona club scene, to headlining humongous events, Sandra Collins' name has become synonymous with every major American dance music scene and movement, beginning with her early days playing Frankie Bones' seminal STORM raves in Brooklyn. Her residencies in Los Angeles are themselves a history of that city's progressive dance music scene: She was resident DJ at L.A.'s Sketchpad from 1992-95, and shared a residency at L.A.'s Metropolis with Doc Martin and Taylor from 1995-98.
Her popularity and reputation for bringing out the deeply emotional side of progressive house and trance earned her a spot on the Electric Highway tour with Crystal Method and Fluke. It also landed her, oddly enough, in a Coca-Cola commercial. In 1997, Sandra released her debut mix CD, Lost In Time, on L.A. trance label Fragrant, which earned her both a nomination for "Best Electronic Artists" in the San Francisco BAMMIE awards, and being named "Best Trance DJ" in the 1998 Global DJ Awards. The next year, she made her production debut with the 12" "Ode to Our"/"Red," which earned press accolades as it sold out its first pressing in a single day. She followed that up with her now-classic "Flutterby" for Scotland's Hook label, a single so genre-defining it has shown up on such seminal progressive house and trance compilations as Nick Warren's Global Underground and John Digweed's Bedrock. Her success led to her moving to New York in 1998, and soon she was spinning regularly at trance mega-club Twilo alongside Sasha and Digweed, Paul van Dyk and Carl Cox. She continued to play raves and clubs across the country, earning a residency at Crobar Chicago.
Her ability to be both a crowd-pleaser and connect emotionally with her audience won her the daunting opening night slot at Woodstock '99. Spinning after Moby, she admirably held her own with a six hour set in front of the 80,000 mostly-neophyte dance music fans, and by the end of her set had by all published accounts won them over. By the end of '99, she had been named "Best Female Artist" by URB Magazine's reader's poll, sharing the title with Lauryn Hill. Now with residencies at Chicago's Crobar and Las Vegas' Utopia, Sandra is one of the progressive dance music's most in-demand DJs, travelling to raves and clubs across the country and around the world, from Little Rock to Lima, Peru.
Guy Ornadel -- Guy Ornadel is renowned as one of the premier DJs on the UK circuit. He’s a regular at the nations super clubs and is becoming a mainstay on the international circuit, taking in all the top clubs across the globe. He is described as ‘one of the leading Trance DJs’.
After leaving school, Guy’s first job was working at a specialist record shop based in London. After a year he landed a job in the press office for Warner Brothers and Virgin where he worked for two years. At 21 he had a break and set up the DMC offices in New York. In 1997 Guy left DMC and returned to the UK where he formed Ornadel Management. As a manager, Guy looks after publishing and recording rights for Sasha, Steve Lawler, Sander Kleinenberg and Charlie May, however, he does not look after their DJ diaries. Time management is the key to Guy’s success, balancing his management agency and fulfilling his own passion for DJing.
Throughout his musical career Guy has been influenced by DJs such as Sasha, Digweed, Junior Vasquez, Dave Seaman’s sets at Cream and Renaissance (in ’91), and the legendary Tony Humphries. Guy’s addiction to DJing stemmed from building a record collection at the age of 17. He became hooked listening to pirate radio shows spending all his time hunting tracks that could only be found in a few specialist shops. Fifteen years later and he’s still hooked. As well as deep progressive beats Guy’s trademark combo of Dutch trance and German stompers keep dance floors fast and firing, delighting the movers and shakers that fill them every time. The way he anticipates and works with the crowd is well recognized when he plays. The bond between himself and the crowd is acknowledged by the energy given off as he maneuvers from one track to the next.
As an international DJ, Guy has rocked dance floors all around the world from the main room at Cream, Ibiza to touring the clubs in Australia with Godskitchen and playing at incredible venues in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Israel and throughout America and Canada. In England Guy has regularly appeared at all the major Dance Festivals including Homelands, Gatecrasher, Creamfields and Global Gathering.
Although Guy was offered various residencies he decided on Passion in Coalville and Promise in Newcastle which draw a following of dedicated clubbers. "I like the fact even though these clubs weren't as well known as some of the super clubs, the atmosphere was as good as any of them". He also plays regular guest spots nationwide at Cream, Slinky, Gatecrasher and Godskitchen.
In 1999 Guy released his debut DJ mix CD which was part of the License To Thrill series. In February 2000, he released a compilation on Slinky. It was Slinky’s first release, lifting Guy’s and the clubs great acclaim. The prestigious mixes, structure and co-ordination of tracks made the CD a must for anyone who appreciates quality dance music.
Bad Boy Bill -- Hard-house DJ Bad Boy Bill was born and raised in Chicago, and began mixing records at the age of 14. An avid fan of Chicago radio station WBMX's Hot Mix Five mixing team, Bill landed his big break when none other than Farley Jackmaster Funk gave him his first broadcast gig; he went on to emerge as one of the hottest turntablists on the Windy City scene, and in 1988 took top honors in the Midwest division of DMC's Battle DJ competition.
Bad Boy Bill went on to spin records throughout the world, even maintaining a long-term DJ residency in Germany in addition to hosting "Street Mix," a top-rated weekly radio mix show on Chicago's WBBM. He also founded his own label, International House Records, and through its Mix Connection Multimedia Inc. subdivision issued a series of mix tapes, the ongoing Bangin the Box series. Utilizing up to fifty records -- a reflection of his hip-hop background -- where most DJs would use only ten, Bad Boy Bill gained a great reputation for playing fast and loose with the mix, rarely pausing to rest on his laurels. Along with the Bangin the Box series, he's issued several volumes in a four-turntable battle series (with Richard "Humpty" Vission) titled The House Connection. In May of 2000 the bangin' series continued with the release of Bangin' in London.
Tall Paul -- The 1998 Muzik DJ of the Year, Tall Paul, began his DJing career in 1987 at the tender age of 16, playing for office parties at his dad's nightclub Turnmills. At the same time Paul started to run his own pirate radio station called Touchdown FM and had already managed to blag a spot on the capital's legendary pirate Sunrise FM. Paul also used his persuasive powers to get a one hour slot at Turnmills' Saturday all-nighter Trade and in 1990 his obvious talent gained him his first residency, and as gay clubs have always been at the forefront of innovation in dance music, Paul quickly became recognised for playing what one might alternatively call hard-edged-house anthems. Not long after his residency at Trade, Paul was offered a residency at the Zap Club in Brighton and there met up with Shelley Boswell which lead to regular slots at the Gardening Clubs'"Club For Life."
Paul has since gone on to DJ all over the UK, currently holding a residency at Turnmills' Friday nighter The Gallery and plays regularly for Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Sundissential, Cream and Golden to name but a few. His popularity has seen him DJ worldwide travelling to Canada, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong, South Africa and all over Europe. Paul is also in the process oftaking the United States by storm, and has dedicated two weeks out of each month's DJing schedule to concentrate his efforts in this particular territory.
In 1992 Paul put out his first vinyl offering - the white label 'Love Rush', a Trade anthem. He then hooked up with Hooj Choons' Red Jerry who with reference to his 6'6" frame christened him with the title "Tall Paul" and came up with the dance classic "Rock Da House," (later to be re-released in 1997 on VC Recordings, reaching No. 11 in the national charts.) Paul then went on to produce numerous top 40 hits including the club anthems Escrima "Deeper" and "Train of Thought", and his highest entry to date, Camisra "Let Me Show You", entered new at No. 5
All this has lead to a series of remix projects for artists such as New Order, Stone Roses, Erasure, Human League, Marc Almond, Wild Child, Hyperlogic, Cappella, Duran Duran, Nalin & Kane, Blondie, Bizarre Inc, Dina Carroll... the list goes on. Paul's production talents are recognized in the "DJ Magazine Top Producers Poll," where Paul features year after year.
