This year at the oasis

I have been coming to Sturgis for the past 7 years, your establishment is one of the most entertaining venues during the rally. A very well diversified crowd, which adds to the fun, coupled with the Karaoke seems to work really well. Congratulations, good job.

Now here is the rub !!!!!!

I am not going to pay $4.75 for a can of beer, at least not in any quantity. In previous years I would drop upwards of $50 to $60 a night at your place, not this year. This year most nights I would have 1 drink, rarely would I have more through out the entire evening.

I am not alone, friends from Rapid City (Harley and Jane) rarely missed a day at your place: this year I saw them once.

Brad and Glenda from northern SD. I saw them only once during the week at the Oasis.

A couple girls I met from Sioux Falls, also found their niche. Because they were staying in town, they would go to the liquor store and tank up before heading out on the town. They usually divide their time between The Knuckle, One Eyed Jacks and the Oasis. Unfortunately for you they were on a really strict budget and divided by a third wasn’t much for each place.

This year my group from Syracuse totaled 22, ages ranged 33 to 71..the consensus was that the Oasis was one of the best bars, but they limited their patronage to one or two nights max.

As for the bar maids and waitresses.... they too took it on the chin. At $4.75 per beer I am sure the natural instinct was to give a .25 tip. It took an extra effort to give more.
Businesses who think patrons are going to stand for a 15 to 18% price increase are not being realistic...especially during these times.

As for me, I am a casual drinker and will be coming to the Oasis every year. It is still my favorite place. You have complete control whether I spend $4.75 during the evening or upwards of 50-60 dollars... I am not alone on this type of behavior.
