The Latin music world has lost one of it’s rising stars as Adan “Chalino” Sanchez was fatally injured in an automobile accident on March 28th. One of Regional Mexican music’s most promising young stars, the 19 year-old Univision Music Group recording artist died after the car in which he was riding en route to a scheduled performance blew a tire, lost control and rolled over in the Mexican State of Sinaloa.

Adan was the son of legendary balladeer Marcelino “Chalino” Sanchez who was murdered in Sinaloa 12 years ago. Following in his father’s footsteps, Adan began his singing career at the age of nine and with a charismatic smile and stage presence developed a loyal following of fans in the U.S. and Mexico.

Just prior to his death, Adan became the youngest artist to headline a concert at the prestigious Kodak Theater in Hollywood, California. Adan did not disappoint as he delivered an unbelievable 2-hour concert before a sold-out audience with one of the highlights coming with a special dedication of a song he wrote to honor his father along with a multimedia presentation of photos of the two together.

Chalino Sanchez helped transform traditional Mexican ballads into tough tales about criminals and drug traffickers. He was abducted and found dead in 1992. Adan Sanchez had recorded nine albums of romantic ballads and tributes to his father.

A Southern California native, Adan was traditional yet was a product of his environment and reveled in the growing West Coast Urban Regional music movement that encompasses both Regional Mexican music and Latin Hip Hop sounds. He recently guest starred on the highly successful and critically acclaimed Urban Regional album by Akwid, a fellow Los Angeles-based artist.

Adan’s album Un Soñador (A Dreamer) with Univision Music Group was released on August 5, 2003 in the U.S. and Mexico.
