Gil's Cafe, South Park

A local bar with decent affordable food. Excellent sea food. Clean with OK decor. Unlike some bars the lighting is good so you can see what you are eating. You can get a salad that is more than just a hunk of iceberg and a few shavings of dry carrot, which seems to be haute cuisine in the south hills of the Burgh. Good parking. They have a trivia night which is fun.
We will be going back.

Very impressed with menu... lots of choices for me and my family.
My wife and I tried the Crab cake app... wow is all I can say. The corn mix was amazing and the crab cake was one of the best I have ever had.
For Dinner I had Shrimp and Penne again it was amazing, my wife had the Tuscan Chicken... she loved it.
This quality of food at the prices they are charging should be a crime.

high prices for poor quality. When I pay $7.99 for chicken nachos I don't expect "cheese Whiz" and frozen chicken strips on my food. I expect real shredded cheese and grilled chicken pieces.
Fried zuchinni was so greasy the grease oozed out when they were cut with a fork.
The attempt at quality food failed either due to the quality of food at the start or not knowing how to make it!!
The server was in a bad mood, paying attention to a larger table than to our table of 5.
Will not return!
Go back to the bar food. It was better.

I've eaten here three times for dinner, and had a few stops for drinks at the SMOKE FREE bar. The whole restaurant is smoke free, which is awesome in Pittsburgh. The best part of Gil's is their seafood. I ate the Ritz cracker encrusted cod, calamari, crab stuff mushrooms, and the blue crab tortellini... all tasted fresh, served in very appetizing portions, and left me stuffed but hungry for my next visit. All and all a great experience.

Gil's Cafe is a great place to go for dinner. Food is fresh...and good,
and the non-smoking atmosphere makes a dining experience
very enjoyable. We will definitely be going back to Gil's Cafe. Said they will be bringing back Prime Rib after lent. That is my favorite.

Finally a local no-smoking bar! Kudos to Gil's for having the balls to go smoke free.
Finally you can go out and have a few drinks and not go home smelling like an ashtray.

we were disappointed to find that they no longer had their famous"quarter nite" but when we asked about it they said they offered it for as long as they could and inflation got the best of them. we ordered off the menu and were not disappointed with anything we orderd. we miss some of the old appetizers like zucchini, but they said they were tweaking the menu and it might be back. keep up the good work. we will be back.

Awesome. Food is wonderful. Air is clean. No smoking! Yes! Pleasant staff. Friendly owner. Great value. Worth the effort.
