If you want to feel like Christopher Reeves’ character in “Somewhere in Time”, visit the Oak Bar. You won’t need that penny in your pocket, just the plastic. Here, you may feel like a little kid playing dress up, or a like you found the loophole in the space/time continuum, but either way, the Oak Bar feels like an old man’s pleasure (no, not that kind). The only thing missing is an old stogie and a complimentary smoking jacket. High ceilings lend a sense of regal comfort and the long list of martinis, traditional and modern twists, is unmatched in the city. Prices are high, so be sure to have more than your share of the free, well-salted fancy nut mixture.
