More from Jerry LaFavor
In 1961, my surf group called the Expresso's cut a record, which I wrote as a drum instrumental called Teenage Express. We debuted it on the Wink Martindale TV show at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium. Now, almost 50 years later, you can here it on yourtube at:
http:www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_33a6uXzPY.
I have been on stage with a number of groups including Jan & Dean, d!@# Dale and the Del Tones, Frankie Avalon, Della Reese, Gene MacDaniels, and others.

My persoonal view of the "Pirates Cavern" for the 5 yearws I played drums there.
My name is Jerry LaFavor and I am the same Jerry LaFavor that is mentioned in these articles. The 5 years we played there it was a "straight" club. At first we had only beer and then the club was expanded and we added hard liquor.. Our guitar player/singer, Bob West, was part owner of the club in the later years. After we left there Bob and I formed a group called Me & Jer and played in other local clubs. At 70 I live in Las Vegas and still play drums

Orange County RIP Pirate Cavern
Chicago Tony's Pirate Cavern has been surrendered to the bulldozer. Once the bustling jewel of Northwest Anaheim's entertainment scene, home of the skiffle group The Buccaneers (featuring Bob West, Bob Chance, Luke Harp and Jerry LaFavor), it is all but a memory now, a victim of Orange County's ongoing ruthless, shortsighted campaign to rid itself of all of the neighborhood bars. You can view the vacant lot from the Walgreens that sits in the space previously occupied by Betty's Inn.
