Gabah - Oddly hidden near downtown, Gabah is a bar that has been an underground favorite for years. For those who want to check it out, it's best to call in ahead of time to hear whatever’s on the menu for the week. In general, the spot is known for great reggae and hip hop. On Saturdays, the place is called the Chocolate Bar and may have a live performance or two. The music is mostly provided by a DJ who plays some of the best hip hop, reggae and house music. Gabah is extremely unpretentious, and as long as you are 21, pretty much anyone can come in. There is no real dress code, so women don't have to worry about pulling out the heels. The club is barely lit, but for a few red lights scattered about. There is an old-school basement party feel as there really isn’t too much room for lounging or sitting, but there is a patio is provided for the smokers and those who need some air. Since the music is so good, you probably won't even notice the body odor or the fact that someone keeps elbowing you in the back; it's quite easy to get lost in the beat. Not exactly the best place for the more mature and sophisticated, Gabah is the kind of bar you can forget about being uppity and just dance dance the night away.
