Florentine Gardens Los Angeles, Venue Description

Florentine Gardens - Florentine Gardens has gone through a lot in its lengthy history, and right now, its future is up in the air. This former Hollywood supper club used to feed the Valley of the Dolls crew (Bogart, Hepburn and Monroe), and is a definite piece of Hollywood history. However, its latest incarnation as an 18+ club hasn't done much to endear it to the community, and currently, the city of Hollywood is trying to decide whether to tear it down and build a fire station or other civic building there--which would ultimately be a shame. Tawdry or not, Hollywood needs its landmarks.

damm thats hott
the night i went tthat s#*! was down! i went on a saturday nite a few weeks ago.. the music was great the DJ mixed old school with current hip-hop/rap regg. and latin flavor. out of all the clubs i've been to and in comparison to all the dj's i've heard this guy knew how to work it. the only thing that went wrong about the night was this guy trying to f*** me up my ass on the dance floor... but girls dont let that discourage you all the guys are fine and not all perves like the one iof the ones i danced with..... the only real problems was the parking - it was hell getting out yeah the night was great!!!!!!! you should go

Not So Good Experience
The Good: The dance floor is very large and roomy, so you won't worry about bumping in to people. Also, there wasn't a long line to get in when my friends and I went there on a Saturday. The music was a mixture of hip hop and latin beats, so if that's what you're looking for, you would probably enjoy it. The Not-So-Good: The DJ also mixed in about two songs from the 80's, but they felt REALLY out of place - like he just threw them in there for kicks. That killed the mood a little bit. If you're going to play a mixture of music, then do it right and play an even amount of each kind! The Bad: What really turned my experience from just "OK" to plain horrible was that the DJ played a SLOW DANCE right after a fast-tempo latin song. I have never been to a club that has played a slow dance on a Saturday night! And after the slow dance, they brought out a singer to sing a Christmas song. Now, it's possible that they were having a special Christmas celebration and I simply didn't know about it, so let's not count that against them. But the slow dance really ruined it for me. I would be curious to go back one more time to see if the situation remains the same. If it does, then I would not return here again.
