Booking Agents are Horrible here
I totally agree with the last post. This place has a vibe that could be great but unfortunately the production company that runs this doesn't have the slightest clue on how to run shows. They overbook the nights with 5 or more acts, with no theme what so ever. And the guy who is in charge of the shows is a sleaze ball and is totally unprofessional. If you are band interested in playing gigs in NYC make sure you don't put this place on your list of places to book!

Avoid if you care about music
This place was terrible. Its a bar/music space run by people who don't know the first thing about music. The booking was inconsistent with 30 minute sets that seemed to be pulled out of a hat. The sound was also pathetic. I noticed that bands were not only asked to start without a soundcheck, but the DJ music was so loud that they couldn't even hear themselves before they began. I spoke with a musician the night we were there and he told me that his band was frustrated because the backline was the worst they had ever seen e.g. bass head played through an 18inch PA speaker, a broken Crate amp that was obviously found on the street somewhere. He also mentioned that the bartender/sound guy was way too busy tending the bar to help...overpriced drinks first, music second, and it showed. It was amateur from start to finish. If you care about the integrity of original music the 169 bar will be insulting.
