Twilo -
Currently Closed -- But when it was open, we said:
As well as being one of the largest clubs in New York, Twilo is also currently the venue most likely to showcase the turntablist skills of the current big hitters on the world DJ circuit. Junior Vasquez plays every Saturday at his party, Juniorverse, while Sasha and Digweed perform on the last Friday of every month. Big name foreign imports such as Paul Van Dyk, Adam Freeland, Carl Cox and Terry Francis have all made recent guest appearences at this shrine to dance music. Twilo's location will already be ear marked by clubland historians as it was previously the legendary Sound Factory. In fact in those not too distant days Junior Vasquez was pretty much the sole ruler of this venue's perpetually packed dance floor. Today, Twilo is no less popular than the Factory was, if truth let it be known, it probably clocks more traffic than the Factory ever did. An explanation for this is the continued broadening of the dance music landscape during the last 5 years, a landscape where Twilo still represents the highest summit. One should expect a mixed but younger, even more musically discerning crowd than in recent times. Bottom line - when the big guns are in town you should expect a very packed house.
