Ascend a flight of stairs from a quaint Old Pasadena courtyard and you’ll arrive at Vertical Wine Bistro, featuring a sleek wine bar separated from a contemporary dining room by a floor-to-ceiling glass wine cellar. Film producer Gale Anne Hurd has created this warm and inviting setting while Director of Operations David Haskell provides more than 400 wines (80 available by the glass, alongside intriguing flight options) to pair with Executive Chef Doug Weston’s California bistro fare. Signature dishes include Best of LA grilled cheese sandwiches, corn fritters, ahi tuna, escolar and ribeye steak. Weekly wine classes and Winemaker Dinners provide guests with the opportunity to learn about new wines. Open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday.
