Bar 108, Greenwich Village

Bar 108-- No date? Friends and  family out of town? Just looking for a  quiet night, some booze, minimal eats  (pretzels served with dipping sauces), and a cold beer? Head to Bar 108 where you'll find a white marble bar-- top over which four flat-screens are lined, bright lights, candle-lit tables. leather couches, and a back room with another four flatscreens. That said, blame it on the lack of music and relatively steep prices (though you can get wine for $9, beer goes for $7), the space-- even on a Friday night-- does not get packed beyond a few solitary sports fans fixed on their screens. Further, while we applaud the owner's minimal, modern approach, Bar 108 is in an awkward middle position  between the swank bars (Pegu Club) and lively dives (Botanica) in its midst. May we suggest lowering your  prices, dimming your lights, and adding some beats.
