The space that once house Manhattan-staple, Mannahatta, now is home to Double Crown. The British-Indo-Asian eatery comes courtesy of the same folks behind popular joints Public and Stanton Social, so it’s little surprise that Double Crown is a bar cum restaurant where those looking to sit back and enjoy a cocktail, glass of wine or bottle of beer (cocktails and wine go for about $11, while their short, but top-notch beers range from $6 to $15), will be just as satisfied as those looking to enjoy an exotic meal in either of the two dinning rooms (think Crispy Whitebait, $5 and Pheasant and Licorice Pie, $19). The main dining room is done-up with dim-lighting, comfy leather banquettes, exposed brick-walls, candles, and touches of neon lighting, while the back-room is more casual with a lighter-feel and white-carved paneling. Worth checking-out are the joint’s single stall downstairs bathrooms which all come complete with thick, wood-carved, Asian-inspired doors.
