WASTE OF TIME!
just got back from their "so called" Halloween Party where they promised you cash and prizes for best costumes. By 10pm, the rooftop lounge was packed with very creative costumes. When asked about when they will be doing the contest, a manager there said about 10:30. It was now 12 midnight, all the good costumes left already and so asked a bouncer what the deal was with the contest. He came right out and said IT WAS CANCELLED!!! BECAUSE THE PROMOTER NEVER SHOWED UP!. They made us wait all night for a contest to happen and nothing at all happened. 2 dj's all night played music i was not expecting to hear in a NY club. The music could have been a little more progressive and up to date. I don't think I'll be going back to this place anytime soon. I don't like to be lied to and waiting for a contest that's not happening while spending $$$ at the bar

Fraud promoter
Went there for a Halloween Costume Party and they had a flyer on clubplanet that stated they have a costume contest with cash prizes. The staff lies to u about it and makes u wait the whole nite long and at the end they don't even have a contest.

What cheap skunks! I expected more from this place, I'll never go there again! There are so many better places to go to in NY. And for a rooftop bar the view is not really breath taking, try out 230 fifth, u're paying the same amount of money but u ll get sooooo much more for it!

False advertisement
This place really sucks. They lure people into the club with false advertising. Went there for a Halloween Party to attend a $ 1000 contest, but the contest never happened. I even asked before I entered but they just straight out lied to me. The Manager sucks and doesn't even take responsibility or at least apologizes for his crappy money hungry promoter, what a pussy.

The drinks are pricey too and I mean if I pay money I at least wanna have a good drink but noo...

Worst night
Showed with equal amount of guys and girls tough door is an understatement. Extremely crowded, over priced, rude patrons and well as staff, music was sub par and if there was dancing it must have been in the bathroom or maybe on that horrendous line to leave at the end of the night. You heard it....line for the elevator to leave was thirty minutes long.

I would never recommend this place.

FRAUD PROMOTOER
I went to this supposedly free shindig last Friday 5/29/09 for my girls Birthday. We get there and have to wait online close to 45 minutes not before the promoter goes down the line and starts ranting that if your a single GUY YOU BETTER BUY BOTTLE OR YOUR NOT GETTING IN. NEXT HE SAYS IF YOUR NOT BUYING A TABLE OT BOTTLES DON'T WASTE HIS TIME BECAUSE YOUR NOT GETTING IN! HE THEN PROCEEDS TO LET A PACK OF SINGLE GIRLS IN ONLY TO HAVE THEM WAIT 20 MINUTES IN LINE WHILE PEOPLE ARE FIGHTING WITH THE BOUNCERS FOR FALSE ADVERTISING!!

GUYS DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WITH THIS BS HE PULLS!!

Could be better
This weekend I celebrated my 30th B-day at the Empire Hotel Rooftop and had both positive and negative experiences...

Pros - The place itself is beautiful and spacious with a fantastic view and since we're on a rooftop smokers don't have to go far.

The waitress and servers were very attentive and kept our bottles and mixers filled.

The bouncers were great in making sure no craziness went on.

The Promoter JP was great and so helpful!

Cons - The "GM" has delusions of grandeur and has no concept of "the customer is always right". He was extremely rude and bc of him alone I would never recommend this place to anyone for a party. He told me that my cake was taking revenue away from his kitchen (I guess my over $1K tab plus all the drinks my guests were buying aren't considered revenue). Or maybe he thought I was going to sell my birthday cake to his patrons. When I tried to show him that I was told that there was no plating fee bc I still had the email saved on my blackberry, he told me he didn't care what anyone told me because he is the "GM" and he has the last word. When I told him I don't like being misled he responded, "whatever!" Zero custumer service skills. Empire needs to fire that guy pronto! He's a profanity.

The DJ was also a con. Maybe it's just me but Ace of Base and Whitney Houston just aren't party hits in 2009. For a minute there I thought he was trying to help me relive all my thirty years lol

Despite that General Monster and outdated music, overall I had a great time thanks to the wait staff, the security guys, the promoter JP and more than anything my guests!!!
