Larry Golden of Pianos, musician Andrew W.K., and artist Spencer Sweeney’s highly anticipated new club/lounge/performance space, goes by many handles: Santos’s Party House, 100 Lafayette, and formerly Santa’s Party House. Santos Party House is a two-level, 8000 sq. foot music venue, centrally located in downtown New York City, straddling Chinatown and Tribeca. Blurring the lines between music and art culture, the venue is designed to function as a concert hall, dance club, and lounge. Hidden past a flight of blue stairs, beyond a multi-colored room, lies a space three years in the making. Given the extended build-up, the décor disappoints: painted blue walls and disco balls does not a legend make. Lucky for Santos, the mix of hipsters, ravers, bankers, and old eccentrics don’t seem to care, and the impressive list of DJs already signed up to spin will ensure that this hot spot earns its reputation fair and square.
