With its concrete floors, cinderblock walls and a retractable (read: vinyl sheet) roof, Studio B’s new rooftop bears all the trappings of a hipster hideaway. Perched atop the Greenpoint’s breeding ground for cool, the roof garden is finally open for business, giving weary feet and lungs a break from the sweatbox below. Like the main floor, the garden gets crowded. And the tropical palm trees scattered about, although lovely, don't help the cause. To avoid getting whacked in the face by an elbow or a frond, grab a seat on one of the lowered picnic benches overlooking the industrial skyline, or hunker down next to the tiled center fountain. Either way, the beer and booze are Brooklyn cheap, and the geniusly curated electro/hip-hop/indie tunes are well worth the journey.
[Bonus: This summer, check out Flosstradamus, Green Velvet, Cut Copy and the Black Kids if you can cop some tickets. They're going fast.]
