Hotel Delmano - The owners of Union Pool have opened this Williamsburg (not hotel) bar that attempts to split the difference between grungy Brooklyn cool and that swankier, secret bar vibe more often found across the East River. Starting for the Brooklyn side: a funky, faux-downtrodden décor featuring dusty paintings, old ceiling fans, and half-lit chandeliers. Representing for the Manhattan team: comfy leather banquettes, a slick marble bar, and most importantly, $14 cocktails. Frosted glass windows and a chained-up front door contribute to the hideaway impression – so if you see a gaggle of stiletto-ed ladies looking lost among dive bars on North 9th, point them in this direction.
