Tucked away on Mercer Street, between John Street and Blue Jays Way, the outside of the club is simple. Probably an old warehouse at one time, Shmooze is a hidden treasure. Two large wooden doors with brass handles are the only sign indicating that something is contained in this industrial brick building.
No stone was left unturned when it came to renovating the space into Shmooze. Upon entering you feel like a guest at a private party, as this open concept club is both elegant and cozy. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the crowd is comfortable and relaxed. The inside decor reflects a modern-day mansion with its high ceilings, stone walls and hardwood floors. Red roses and floating candles are scattered throughout the club adding a romantic feel, while candle lanterns and large mirrors line the walls on the lower level.
Shmooze has two large bars and even at capacity (1,000 people) you will never wait more than a few minutes for drinks. Each bar is well staffed to keep the liquid flowing and crowd happy. Two VIP Lounges are located across from the main bar on the lower level, which can be reserved for birthdays, anniversaries or corporate functions. Both lounges contain sleek, modern couches, private staff and shears that can be closed to keep the function a little more intimate. Chandeliers light up the massive dance floor, which is a step up from the main level. Top 40 music spins all night long keeping the crowd alive and bustling.
