I had a great time...
By far one the best nightclubs I have been too.. Very mature crowd, good music, attractive crowd, and the drinks were good.. Definitely look forward to going back.

It's good
I enjoyed this place. One of the best clubs I've been too. Although it is better if you know people there. I like how you can sit and chill or dance. Lots of places to go inside too.

BEWARE!!!!
I decided to do something kitschy for my husband's 35th, so we came here. We’re an easy-going NYC crowd that can hang anywhere from The Edge to Bungalow. This place was HORRIBLE. It’s apparent that they’re used to tourists or kids, because the word SERVICE wasn’t in their vocabulary. The waiter got every single drink order wrong. It took 45 minutes to get a second round of drinks and 2 hours to get our food. We complained to the manager(s), but they couldn't have cared less. There was a 75 minute wait before you could sing, which they don't tell you until after you place your request. There’s also a 2 hour time-limit on the table, something else they don't mention. The food was mostly poor. I ordered the fish’n chips, the fish was frozen and the chips were LAY'S. Some people got their food half an hour before others. On and on I could go. Despite all of this, we tried to have a good time. After waiting for 30 minutes for dessert so we could sing happy birthday, we had finally had it. The icing? They added a 20% service charge to the check. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!

Check your staff
It doesn't matter how much your revenue is or the crowd you attrack. Professionalism says alot about a establistment. Check! your staff. If they are unhappy with their position, quit!! They shouldn't have dropped out of HS. But, on a good note, It's not to late for them to return back to school. Get it together, The Spot, or whatever the place is called, isn't the only up scale club in NY.

About a 7 out of 10
Saturday 11/3/07:
This club is located on Broadway between 48th&49th is in a very convenient location. It starts off as an entertaining Karaoke bar/restaurant, but around 11pm transforms into a regular club. Get there early (before 10pm) and beat the $30 cover/1-2 hour line. If not, it would probably be a good idea to make friends with the bouncers/grease your way in. Drinks are about $10 for a small 8oz cup. Tip your bartender well on the first round for good service I did this and received 16oz cups with liquor filled to the brim either for free or $10, as opposed to the tiny 8oz cup for the same price). This place was about 4 floors with an outdoor deck (good for smokers). There was an elevator to go from floor to floor which is very helpful when you are too drunk to walk down steps. The main bathroom had a bathroom attendant, but if you are like me and would rather spend your $1 on beer, use the one on the top floor because it is empty. There were two dance floors; one on the first floor which was rather small about 1,000 square feet, and one on the third floor at about the same size. There were four bars: one on the outside deck, and one on every level. The DJ’s played mostly hip hop (a lot of Biggie) in the beginning of the night, and then later on in the night around 1-130am switched to reggae tone. The crowd was diverse, with ages ranging 21-35, mostly around the 22-25 years age group. Earlier in the night we were fortunate enough to have a Bachelorette party of about 15 gorgeous Staten Island girls. They began their night with the male revue that goes on the on the top floor till 11pm. There was about an even ratio of guys to girls, which consisted of primarily people of Hispanic ethnicity, then White, then African Americans, and then Asian. The dress code was rather typical of any New York City club; collared shirt and slacks. I would recommend wearing a nice button down with dress pants. I saw no one wearing polo shirts, and a few jackets/blazers, making it a little more upscale. This club stays open till the standard New York City 4am, but in my opinion was only good until about 1-1:30am. Best advice is to get there and establish your hook ups early because as the night went on, the ratio got progressively worse.
Overall rating: 7.0

It is what it is!!!!
Being born in NY and raised in Florida I know very well how night clubs are ran, and to respond to the dumba$#es above. If I remember clearly Studio 54 was well known for holding the door and the place would be empty inside and if you didn't fit the profile of what they wanty inside then you didnt get in! The truth of the matter is that the club is on BROADWAY and with the amount of people walking through there, you must have a sense of authority in order to maintain order.

Now I admit the bouncers could be a little better but gues what my friend the club is well worth it. It better than most clubs in the city, it's clean and serves an upscale of people on Saturday nights. Any having been part of the club scene in Miami it reminds me of Club Space in Downtown, Miami.

Now I was there this saturday night and my friends got just find! Now me on the other hand I was part of a promoter and I didn't have to wait but I did have to pay $25.00 but that's cool....I didn't mind.

If you didn't get in and if you pissed the bouncers off maybe it was you....you have to remember Bouncers have and live off an ego and if you think your NY attitude is going to get past the Velvet Ropes then you gusy aren't true Clubbers and have never been part of the scene.

The only thing I have to say about Spotlight is that yes the bouncers need some manners but hey IT'S ON BROADWAY AND THE TRAFFIC IS HORRIBLE!

Worst club i have ever been to
I recommend for anyone and everyone who is going to this club to go the other direction. They have no common courtesy and whoever is running the club is doing a very poor job at it. The bouncers are disrespectful and dont deserve to be in that line of work. So if you have any kind of self-respect please stay away from this club.

Spotlight-Stay Away
The service in Spotlight is horrendous! They say to be there before 12 to get in free but the line is massive and they hold it up to make people pay. My friends said that they got their way before 12 and barely made it in b4 the prices hit and once they got in…the place was empty.

Once we got there, I had 4 females hold a spot on the long line while me and a friend went to get parking. When we went to get on line I managed to jump in with the girls but my was rudely stopped by a loud, rude, fat, old and bitter black bouncer who told him
to go around the block to the end of the line for jumping without notifying
him. The guy made such a show that he threatened to move all of us to the
back of the line…and we had “Birthday service”. On any other day, my friend would have either (a) cursed the motherf*cker out (b) just go to another club (c)
punched the prick in the face and/or (d) all of the above.

Instead, he bit his tongue and apologized repeatedly. The guy made him apologize not only to him but also a younger, black and inexperienced bouncer who only referred to the original d*ckhead who yelled at him to begin with. The bouncer finally says for us to go up with the girls and when we do, another fat bouncer (this one was white) sends us to the back of the line for jumping. We tell him that the other bouncer said it was cool but he just yelled saying, “I’m his boss and I’m saying to go the back of the line.” Again, we bit our tongues swallowed our pride and went to the back.

Thereafter, we waited almost an hour and a half. Let me tell you that while
we were on that line we were made to stand on a guys line that allowed one
party of guys every 20 minutes. We saw various lines created and people allowed right in. The girls line flowed right in, of course. Lines were created and taken apart at various points but we were made to wait and wait and wait. People left the line. It was a girls bday party and she was made to wait with all her friends!

I said dear god, please give me some dynamite so I can blow this place up. I have visions of cutting the throats of all the bouncers and felt belittled by how “the scene” treats those who are “unpopular” or aren’t rich.

I heard from my fiance that a group of girls inside the club questioned the
amount that was being charged and were yelled at by a bouncer who told them
to “pay or get the f@#% out” with him in their face.

When I was search, I was barked at a female bouncer for not moving fast
enough to get my wallet, keys, cell phone and Chap Stick out of my pocket.

The service was truly horrendous. The cost of it all does not fit the place .

A young bartender was the only one giving good drinks for the amount I was
paying. The rest would water down the drinks and pour skimpy shots. $12
Hennessey and $14 for shots of patron (not including tip which was
mandatory). I spent as much on single drinks as much as the cost of a bottle. At the end of the night, I regretted giving so much but I needed something to help me get over my anger. I was at the point that I would have punched somebody for bumping me.

I am NEVER EVER EVER going back there again. You have to really have low self respect for yourself to want to visit this place again!

HORRIBLE!!!DONT EVEN WALK ON THE SAME BLOCK
Worst club experience in my life. First let me start by saying that this club is not free before 12 because even if you get there at 10pm, they hold the line to make sure that everyone pays. If you want to get in right away with out waiting on line you just need to cough up a few bucks, yeah like three or four hundred bucks. The security or the people at the door are very rude. They treat people like crap and are very unreasonable. I thought that when you have a business you must treat everyone with some courtesy and respect but i guess not. I WOULD DEFFINETLY RECOMMEND TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLUB. The other review that is on this website saying that the club is great, more than likely that is someone that works for the club.
