Not Suprising
Seriously, when me and my boy saw the news report on what happened at Spotlight we weren't surprised. Seriously, the bouncers were the only cool people that worked at Spotlight and even they were excessively rough at times. I've seen people fall down the column stairs, because they were getting thrown out, I've seen people almost fall over the railing because they were dragging dudes, they've taken people out the back entrance to do God knows what to them, so it was only a matter of time before someone got killed. But I know this much, regardless of how rough those bouncers handled people, they never would kill anyone.

So it wasn't surprising when they discovered an employee did it, because most of the people who ran the place were shady types anyway.

Spotlight Fan
I only visited a couple of times, but I had a great time there. I used to catch the live feeds now and then as well to watch the karaoke online.
The backup singer/dancers were amazing and ultra talented, and it was always a fun atmosphere. I can honestly say I think they needed to shake up their menu offerings a bit, but I had a great time the few times I was there. As they say, " s#*! happens"... It's just a sad commentary on today's society, but it could happen ANY where..hell, violence has happened at elementary schools!!
Spotlight has potential that is still untapped. I hope they re-open their doors again soon. I'd personally promote them as a great karaoke place for kids and adults.

ANNOYEDWITHSTUPID PEOPLE
P.S. GET YOUR STORY STRAIGHT... IT WAS NOT A BOUNCER. YES, IT WAS AN EMPLOYEE BUT IT COULD HAPPEN ANY WHERE. THERE HAVE BEEN CONVICTED RAPISTS HIRED AS BOUNCERS AT MANY NIGHT CLUBS IN THE CITY AND NOT FOUND OUT UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENED. AS FAR AS I KNOW THERE WAS NO CRIMINAL RECORD ON THIS GUY AND HE WORKED THERE FOR YEARS. NO REASON FOR THEM TO THINK HE WAS CAPIBLE OF SOMETHING LIKE THIS. GET YOUR STORY STRAIGH BEFORE OPENING YOUR MOUTH! :-) HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY AND THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK... WE HAVE TWO EARS AND ONE MOUTH USE IT ACCORDINGLY!

So complaint after complaint abotu how these animals("bouncers") handle themselves, they finally kill an innocent girl. I hope they all go to jail, where then they will actaully fit into the population and can beat up people at will. Take some more steroids, losers.

DANGEROUS VENUE
On 7.26.08 3:00p.m, I attended a b-day party at Spotlight. A male, 185-190 lbs, 6 ft tall pushed me by my throat 5 ft back from where I was standing until I slipped in fell because he as drunk & I interrupted his lap dance. He then tried to strike me in my face. Only then a bouncer came to rescue me from the situation and pushed me against a column. A staff member made me walk across the floor barefoot because they did not want to look for my shoes or the guests I came with & over the glass. I had to walk across the entire event space and outside barefoot to look for my friend who had my shoes. I am only 5’4”. A staff member of the club asked me to do I want to press charges and I told him yes. They told me that they had the man in custody; but the bouncers then told me that they let him go home. the staff then told me that in order for me to press charges I need to know how that man looked, but they let him enter the venue wearing a hat. In a dark space, no one is identifiable with a hat on. management didnt complete incident report or obtain the attackers name. No one called the police! I was badly hurt, with a bruised lip, scratches, back pain from the fall in the club, neck pain, ankle pain, and pain in my wrist. Management didnt following a proper protocol for altercations and injury on the property. The staff at this venue did not respond quickly. The lapse of time between being able to leave the back stairwell the staff had me in, they gave 30 minutes for my attacker to leave and go home without obtaining even his name. In addition, without my purse, I had no phone to call the police and they did not provide me with a way to call the police even after I told them that I wanted to file a police report. DANGEROUS PLACE!!!

IT'S OK
IT'S NICE...IT HAS A WONDERFUL AMBIANCE TO IT...AS FAR AS THE MUSIC IT'S GREAT..BUT HOW THEY EXPECT ANYONE TO DANCE WHEN THERES REALLY NO WHERE TO DANCE ON THE FIRST FLOOR BY THE STAGE?....I FELT LIKE I COULDN'T BREATHE..BUT THE DRINKS WERE GREAT AND SO WAS THE MUSIC

so disgusted
i went to the 1 yr anniversary party , i won't be returning. i know being searched by a women is suppose to make you feel more comfortable and less violated but when the bouncer is butch and thanks you afterwards you gotta feel dirty. the open bar was a joke 1 drink per person unless your tit was hanging out then you got 2. i had started to have a good time up until the performance. i was there to watch Tka perform my favorite songs from the early 90s. instead i spent time trying to ignore the whore who looked like she was 16 who kept alternating between humping a butch chick and some random guy. then she spent the second half of the performance shoving up her skirt up, and replacing her panties with both boyfriend and girlfriend' s face. of course even though they were up against the stage security did nothing, even though the announcer people were signaling for them to do something. i left right after the last song and i will never go back.

wow disappointed!!!
with all the buzz, i was sooooooooo excited to check this place out; everyone told me that it was picky at the door and that the atmosphere was incredible. I get there and there are women with FLIP FLOPS that looked like there were going to a bbq or something!!! wft?? whatever, get inside and music is pretty good (good mix) but the people were definitely grimmey and unpolished... the drinks are weak, the staff---competely rude, a bunch of tourists and completely fake wanna-be's.... NEVER AGAIN!

I had a great time...
By far one the best nightclubs I have been too.. Very mature crowd, good music, attractive crowd, and the drinks were good.. Definitely look forward to going back.
