Tribe - House music in Old Montreal is something that is rather new. In fact, Tribe is rather new, to a certain extent. The club, formerly known as Myst, went through major renovations in order to downgrade the look – I kid you not – making it more in line with typical house music clubs. Indeed, the décor, though gorgeous, had been geared more towards a 40-something crowd with money, which goes totally against the house culture. The club is still high-end and the clientèle is mainly young and nicely-dressed, but the simple black-wall motif, around nicely-placed mirrors, is more in line with the music. The club is open from Thursday to Saturday, with the biggest names on the global underground scene playing here, though Tribe is known for – you guessed it – tribal house. Tribe is not only the place to be for underground music fans on a Thursday, it has outdistanced most of the competition. If you have a chance, check the state-of-the-art DJ booth, which can, incredibly, physically rise or drop as per the artist’s needs.
