This rustic lodge is more than meets the eye, with over two dozen types of wood, antler chandeliers and polished tree-trunk tables. Located halfway between the Meatpacking District and Union Square, Retreat aims to put the glamour of the former neighborhood in the relaxed setting of the later. Boasting the neon-tinged atmosphere of a MePa megaclub, it does away with the pounding music and extreme attitudes, although you’ll want to dress just as nice. The gorgeous space has an almost spa-like relaxing feel, but the most impressive aspect here is the inventive drink list. Patrons can design their own cocktails out of high-class ingredients ranging from sparkling sake to orange curacao to fresh cranberries.
