Nowhere, Lower East Side

Nowhere - Tucked beneath a purple cylindrical awning on 14th Street is a small wooden door with the words “GAY BAR” stenciled near the bottom. This marks the entrance to Nowhere, an East Village dive bar brought to you by the proprietors of Phoenix (located just around the corner) and Metropolitan (Williamsburg). Nowhere attracts a mixed crowd of gay men and lesbians of all ages and has a revolving roster of theme nights with exceptional drink specials each evening. Although a large crowd here is sometimes sporadic and may dissipate well before last-call, Nowhere offers a conducive setting for conversation and remains an excellent destination for happy hour and early evening meet-ups. Its red walls, low ceiling, vintage furniture, and billiards table along with the top-notch juke-box, sweet yet surly bar staff, and hodge-podge cast of regulars give Nowhere a humbleness and sense of domesticity that truly make it feel like Somewhere.
