Tillman's - Though not the most inviting-looking place in the increasingly swankified Chelsea neighborhood, Tillman's should not be passed up. Appearance aside, there’s just no place south of 116th Street that knows soul food better. Order a pint of Sugar Hill and, combined with cedar floors and cigar-smokin' regulars, you’ll feel like you’re cillin' in Harlem in the 50s. If you’re looking for a smoke-free zone, head to the back room, where private alcove booths sit in front of a stone fireplace. Follow up the beer with their Moscow Mule to heighten that warm and fuzzy feeling.
