Ultra, New York (CLOSED)

My friend had their b-day party here, and with every place I always get questionable about it. As soon as I walked in I didn't need to have any worry or question. From the colors illuminating the room, to the amazing fresh smell blowing through the air, this place quickly made it to the number one place on my list.
Being on the guestlist, there was no waiting at the door (thank god, because I absolutely hate waiting), and everyone was so nice, which is surprising to me because I'm used to people being incredibly rude. When we got in, we were escorted right to our section where we had bottles and champagne. A few of us went to the bar, and the drinks/shots were reasonably priced. We never stopped dancing. I can honestly say, that this was one of the best b-day parties I've been too.

Overal the place was suprisingly small but perfect for the particular event because it did not feel over crowded at any point during the night. The space is well decorated, well ventilated, and the sound system was intense for such a small place.

They served free champagne early in the evening and free chocolate covered strawberries which was really cute for valentine's day. Ladies paid no cover which was an added bonus.

I'm not sure I would have been quite as happy if I actually had to pay cover to get in. The people at the door were a little stuck up and so were the bartenders. But I can't complain too much because I got in without a problem and all of my drinks strong and were served in a timely manner. The music was decent enough...but i guess you'll have to go see for yourself.

went there last night. May be i expected too much after M2 and Marquee, but this place is definitely not my style. Door people were ok, can't complain. There was no line at all, so i was a little bit suspicious about that too. The place is small, and they were playing some 80's rock music. Just not my scene really. We walked in and walked out. However it looked like some people were enjoying it. I guess it depends on your taste in music and wheather you like big clubs or small lounges. so decide for yourself.

Ultra is a well developed club, full of great audio surround and decor. Unfortunately, the drink prices are ridiculous, and the dj's average. This club is made up of two floors, very spacious, but, this place is not really keen on having great events or promotions.

People always write reviews about how mean door people are in Manhattan, and I would like to write a good review about the door girl at Ultra. It was absolutely freezing out last night, and my girlfriend and I were standing on line at Ultra. When we got to the front we were greeted nicely by the door girl, but we had to wait while she let a few parties go in front of us. We didn't complain, and stood there patiently, and the door girl was so nice to us, and she gave us some free drink tickets because he made us wait in the cold while she let the other parties go in front of us. We were also greeted very nicely by the other doorman when we walked in. Such a nice experience for once. I definitely enjoyed my night more once I got inside. Nice door people DO exist in Manhattan!

First of all I think you need to mind your business, if you don't know what was going on. And not that I need to explain myself to you but all this was pre-arranged and paid for!!! If it was so packed inside why did all the white people from the tour bus get in???? Answer that Mr. Know IT All. The security told me himself that it was too many BLACK people. Last time I checked we now have a Black president and the s#*! needs to end. We all bleed the same...

I think I saw these guys in line. It was like 50 dudes..... no wonder they didn't get in!! In addition, they were the cause of me waiting in line...... thanks guys.....they need to get the message. When I got in, I understood why they did not want to let them in. It was jammed with people. Great party and they have these dancers......Christ, their asses were hot! They also had this waitress with a tootoo outfit ..... her ass was showing too!!..... holy cow.....needless to say, I was very satisfied with my experience.

I planned a party at this spot for last night 11/22. I arranged everything with a promotor prior. I told them that I had about 50 people. The agreement was that I had to reserve tables and I had to buy 3 bottles & my group would get complimentray entry. I gave my credit card & got the tables and was awaiting my party. However my party was standing outside for over an hour, Security & management would not let them in. I pulled security to the side & asked what the problem was & I was told "Its cause of their skin color and the club had standards to uphold". All my white friends entered the club with no problem. My guests were told that they would have to spend $3000 in order to get in and that would be 4 people to 1 bottle. My guests agreed to do that and were still turned down. I plan on contacting the better business bureau and a lawyer. Places like this need to be SHUT DOWN!!!!

I had my Halloween party at Ultra and it was great. The staff was very helpful with everything from setting up my reservation to getting me and my party to our table with zero hassles. The music rocked and the crowd was great. Highly recommended for anyone who loves nightclubs and lounges.

The music here is always good. While it may be on the edgy side, you won't find it hard to have a good time.
